Taylors Lakeside Campus (part 2)

After elaborating about all the positives in Lake Side Campus, I this it is fair that I also write about the negatives in the Lake Side Campus. Where there is good there is always bad as noting is perfect. I also hope that I would not be putting my “Taylorian” life in jeopardy by writing the negatives of the lake side campus.

First I would like to say that the campus was built in such a rush that some classrooms have not been painted yet and the pipes that are shown out from the ceiling is not a good way of promoting a classy college. In my opinion I think that the contactors rush to build this campus because time had its limit with them. My main prove is that the commercial buildings have not been built yet and it had been predicted to be finished in year 2011.

There is also the bad smell of cow “poop” which makes the campus smell like a farm. Why does a college which cost millions and millions of dollars to build have cows in its area? Why didn’t Taylors College just buy over the land? These are the common question asked by students who are still confused why the campus smells like cows feces.

Taylors Lake Side Campus is a non smoking campus which has made a quite large part of the students angry as why don’t they at least have a few smoking “pots” where students who are on their breaks after a long and stressful day of class. I have been caught smoking by the guards numerous times until; I don’t care anymore as it doesn’t scare me if they even threaten to kick me out from the campus.

The food in the campus has shocked a lot of student’s even lectures. Rm4 for a sandwich with a thin slice cheese and a quarter of an egg is not a good deal to students. I would not mine paying any amount of money for food, but it must at least be worth eating and I think that a prestige campus as Taylors College should at least lower down its food price as most of the students are not working.

Taylors Lake Side Campus has also limited parking spaces and if it passes a certain time limit, one must park really far from the campus. It sometimes takes me around 15 minutes just to walk to my class and I would be mark absent by my lecture.

This has been all the negatives in Taylors Lake Side College. I do not mind studying here but if given a choice to make changes I would definitely make a drastic change in this campus. Firstly abolishing the no smoking rule and creating rooms where students can smoke. Secondly I would buy over the cow farm and modify it into a parking lot so student can fine more parking. The smell of cow’s you know what would also go away and the fresh smell of oxygen can finally be smelled.

Taylors Lakeside Campus (part 1)

Given that I have two posts to write about Taylors Lake Side Campus, I have chosen to write about the positives and negatives about Taylors Lake Side Campus as I think it is fair that I state the truth. I would prefer to start with the positives.
I am proud to say that I study in Taylors Lake Side Campus because the structure of the building is built in such a way that it follows the western culture of architecture. The campus is really huge making it one of the biggest or the biggest in Malaysia. The building was built superbly with a manmade lake and with the commercial lots being built who knows how this campus would develop when time passes.

The campus is built with its own creativity style, and spotting the campus from a distance really makes it looks perfect and it has a one of a kind state of the art design. There are around 5 blocks in the whole lake side campus. The library is seriously one of the biggest I have seen in my life, stretching four floors down. There are a lot of discussion rooms available for personal use which I think is really useful for the college students who want to do their group assignment. There are also a lot of books that are available in the library which allows students to borrow up to five books at a time. With there being a lot of books which can built knowledge to us, it clearly shows us that Taylors main focus is on the education of the students.

The campus also has its own lake. I have seen a lot of fancy college in my time, but this is the first time I am seeing a campus with its own lake, where students can go on boat rides and stuff. Taylors College has also not disappointed the students when it comes to entertainment. The campus is packed with lots of fun such as having a basketball court, two futsal court, a tennis court and two table tennis tables.

Providing fun in the campus is a very good way for students to release their stress after a long day in class and it can also keep students well occupied from negative habits such as drugs or alcohol. The classrooms are also well made and kept clean by the cleaners 24 hours. The air conditioner is always cooling unlike other colleges such as Segi or KDU. There are also good computer labs built in the campus where students can do their work or use social websites such as Facebook to pass their time.

This is all that I have to say about the positives in Taylors Lake Side Campus. Until my next post where I would reveal the negatives in the Lake Side Campus. Hope you guys have a nice day and if my blog is read by someone who is still in school please do join Taylors College so you can be part of the Lake Side Campus agenda.

What am I doing for this Holiday...

Usually as the holiday start all I would think of is doing my assignments, going to the gym and not hanging out as much as I do. But I know whatever I plan would always be a failure so this time I just let Mother Nature take its course on me.

I didn't know what to do during this holiday because I had noting planed out and the holiday seemed as sudden to me as I had just started college so I was like online 24/7 or out. If I wasn't out I was surely online on my MSN and my Facebook. I did go to the library with Harvind, Mei, Michelle, Rachel, Jasmine, Cheryl and Jesseca. We were supposed to go to the lake side and do our assignment. We were supposed to meet at 8.30am but only Jasmine and I were there so both of us were just chilling in the library waiting for the rest.

When the rest finally showed up we all moved to the discussion room so we could do out assignment. We were supposed to do our assignment but we ended up taking pictures. We also did some exploring in the Taylors Lake Side Campus. I was trying to find some 'smoking areas'. Even though smoking is not allowed in this campus, I was still finding some hidden places where I could light up my cigarette. One thing which really surprised me is that the prices of the food in the Lake Side Campus were really expensive. I did have to admit that the lake was really dirty but it was still under construction and only time would tell in the future how it would look.

We ended the day by going to Asia Cafe to have our lunch and we played pool and one by one went home and soon it was just me and Harvind in car going home. Lying on my bed I realized that I have just wasted another day not doing my assignment.

Well the next few days I just hung out with my friends and continued to go online 24/7. I also attended a birthday party. One of my close friends Raihan Rosli, celebrated her 18th birthday. Everyone had an awesome time, it felt so nice to finally hang out with my for schoolmates. It had been a long time since I had seen their faces.

I also spent the remainder of the days updating myself in my love football. Since I started college I have not been watching all the games, so it felt nice to wake up at 2.30 in the morning to watch Inter Milan beat Barcelona 3-1 was worth not sleeping the whole night.

Well I think this is all I can say. I may have wasted my holiday not doing anything, but my mum always said "don't cry over spilled milk" so I don’t think I have regretted that I have wasted this holiday. I think that as humans we should learn from our mistakes and I am proud to say that I have wasted my holiday and there would not be any turn back.

What You Are Doing for the Holidays?

What You Are Doing for the Holidays?.This is a question that many parents love to ask their children as soon as they are back from school and its either their summer holiday, midterm holiday or even a festive holiday had just started. Holiday when looked up in a dictionary means a day free from work that one may spend at leisure. Most parents don't look at it that way and resist that their children do not slack and keep their minds active with educational activities or getting a part time job.

Well as a kid or a teenager who is growing up most of us prefer to spend our holiday doing stuffs like hanging out with friends, going for a sleep over and much more. Most parents are adamant that their children do not go into this kind of activities because they are paranoid that their children might pick up bad habits. Most of the teenagers are forced to get a job. Well getting a job is not a bad thing plus getting additional income from another source other than parents could be a more positive way of going through the holiday period, but most parents don't get it that their children are going to slip in the social life department.

Whenever the question "What you are doing for the Holidays?" is brought up to a child by their parents, the child automatically knows that their holiday is ruined and must now spend the holiday period doing something worthwhile to please their parents. This is not the kind of life that most kids wants, after working their butt of in school they must now work their butt of at home doing activities that please their parents.

As a teenager living in the 21st century, we would really like to deactivate our body during the duration of the holiday, but most parents do not provide this privilege to their children. Making sure your child wakes up at 7 in the morning is really quite harsh towards someone who has been waking up at 6 from Monday to Friday for 5 months.

As for me when asked by my parents what I'm going to do for my holidays, I would always reply them with this same answer which always seems to work, "I'm not sure I would think and tell you when the holiday is coming toward the end". I know what I might say to my parents might be rude, but I have no choice but to say it as I don't want to spend my holidays doing stuff like enrolling into team building courses or getting a part time job.

I love waking up late and sleeping late as I'm not able to this when I'm not on holiday. But parents look at this as bad discipline as they think it might affect out sleeping pattern.

Well to summarize this all I can say is that parents should not ask their children what they are going to do for holiday hence just let their children figure out what to do. This does not only improve the Independence in a child it also builds up self motivation for them.

A New Beginning Part 2

I remember the times when the teacher used to call my mom to complain about my discipline in school. It was not because I was a bully or anything. I really hated school as I thought it was a waste of time. As time passed I soon realized that my final exams in my high school were just in the corner and I was still hanging out with my friends and having a good time. Then one day while I was lying on my bed something just ticked my head. If I would fail my exams I would not go anywhere and I would just be staying at home or working at the nearby petrol station. I told myself that I had to buck up and start studying. I checked my phone calendar and realized that I only had 4 weeks to mug and start studying two years worth of stuff in one month just to do well.

The day of my final exam's came and I took it with the level of confidence as a "school nerd" knowing that I had studied the hardest an it was up to god to pass me. March 11 was the day my results were released and I managed to obtain 3As in my English, Mathematics and Accounts. I remembered the joy in my mum’s face; I remembered seeing the tears of joy rolling down to her cheeks. I remembered when my class teacher called her to school to inform my mum that I would definitely fail my finals and the discipline teacher described me as a sinking ship with no hope. I have no rubbed mud on their face.

The very next day I told my dad I wanted to go to college. My dad jokingly said "Sanjiv wait for a scholarship lar I know you would get". My dad knew that Taylors was in my mind since I was in form 4.My dad and I were supposed to go college hunting like how he did with my sister but we just went to Taylors and registered and within 30 minutes I had already become a Taylors student.

Then March 29 came, the first day of college. I woke up with so much excitement in my body. Orientation was super boring and i felt like smoking 20 cigarettes at one time just to keep awake. When we were separated from diploma and foundation. I went "wow" there were so many hot students in our class, each with their own special talent.
College started for real 4 days later, and that when I realized that this is a new beginning in my life. The teachers oh sorry I meant lectures were so cool and they seemed so friendly and not uptight as school teachers were to students. There was Mr. Winston who is kind of boring in Fundamental of management and he suddenly becomes this awesome, cool and hip teacher in Creative Communication and Portfolio Development. Then we have Ms Karmini who is another awesome lecturer who doesn’t get pissed of at her students. We also have Ms Surika who is pretty cool when it comes to IT, and how can I forget Ms Ngim who is so patient with her student and she doesn’t choose to yell at them.

If this is a new beginning then I really want to be part of it. This would surely be in my memories as the best years to come.

A New Beginning

"Ronaldo takes on the defender...Cristiano Ronaldo with the shot oh what an amazing goal.." that was the voice of the commentator shouting on the mi as the Portuguese winger notched his 26 goal for the 2008/2009 season. This took his tally to 118 goals in 292 games. Speculation after speculation which rumored the Manchester United star to Real Madrid grew more, and then on the summer of 2009 the Portuguese captain finally passed his medical test and made his way to Real Madrid on a record breaking deal worth 80 million pounds. This made Cristiano Ronaldo the world’s most expensive football player overtaking former world player of the year Zinedine Zidane.

Despite losing their clubs top scorer, Manchester United's manager Sir Alex Ferguson was determine to prove pundits and bookies wrong who stated that Manchester United could not cope without their former world player of the year. During a press conference in Kuala Lumpur Ferguson described striker Wayne Rooney as the person who could make a difference and there was a new beginning in Manchester United's history. During previous season when Ronaldo was around, Rooney was known as the player who did the "dog job" and thus Rooney had always played more of an attacking midfielder when Ronaldo was around.

During Manchester United's pre-season games, United were described as a slow attacking team and they lacked speed which Ronaldo provided physically and mentally. Ferguson remained calmed and stressed out that Wayne Rooney would prove his worth.

Match pundits predicted that the first game in the Premier League, United would suffer a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City. The match ended 1-0 United with Rooney getting his name on the score sheet. Fans shouted "Wayne who...Wayne ROOOONEYY" during the next game against Wigan.Rooney scored two vital goals for United as they cruised to a 5-0 victory.

The clash of the Manchesters proved to be one of the most memorable games of the season. Manchester City a squad with wealth took on Manchester United a club with dept. Level after 90 minutes, a game where bookies fancied Manchester City. A superb pass by Wayne Rooney to Ryan Giggs who squared it to Michael Owen who scored an injury time goal to give United a 4-3 win over their arch rivals.

Since then Wayne Rooney has been notching in goal as if he was eating apple pie from McDonalds. His four goals demolition against Hull was the climax proving that there was life after Ronaldo and that Manchester United ambition towards their fourth successive Premier League was not just a dream but something possible to achieve. Wayne Rooney also came of the substitute bench in the League Cup Final against Aston Villa to head in United's winner.

Recently during a game against Bayern Munich in the Champions League Quarterfinal which Manchester United lost, a huge crowd in the Theatre of Dreams gave Wayne Rooney a standing ovation as the striker soldiered on for 40 minutes with a knee injury not wanting to come off so he could help his team.

With four more games to go till the 2009/2010 Premier League comes to close, Manchester United are in second place three points behind Chelsea and with Wayne Rooney being the Premier League top scorer scoring 26 goals in 29 games and scoring 8 goals outside the Premier League, this has really proved to be a new beginning to not only Manchester United but also to Wayne Rooney.
